Hey Angel babe, well I had to break off my driving lessons due to lack of funds but everyone tends to progress at different speeds depending on confidence, quality of driving school/instructor etc. not sure you can put a set time on it but enjoy it ok, its a laugh, who are you with, (driving school) and good luck

it took me over a year, but thats cos I kept on stopping and starting. But I still managed to pass first time with only 10 minor faults!

I pay £16 per hour. During the summer i had two lessons a week but had to cut down to one once i started back at college. I alternate the payment each week between me and my mum.
As for driving i love it! I agree with what Dark Knight said different people progress at differemt speeds.
Had a lesson to today infact. Burst a football that shot out into the road in front of me and almost hit a Pheasant! Pesky birds!
I've had about 21 lessons, past my theroy and i put in for my test last week. So i should get my test in before xmas (fingers crossed i pass). Just a little more practice and i should be fine me thinks.
Above just be calm and try not to rush things. Happy Motoring!

I'm having driving lessons at the moment. I rang loads of places and found the average was £15/£16 an hour but thats in my area. The most expensive I found was BSM and AA driving instructors.

I've had about ten lessons now and I think its really hard! I go through phases with my driving where I like it and then I absolutely dread my lesson. I do want to learn though so I'm gonna have to put up with it.

I haven't had ne proper lessons yet but my Mum has taken me out a few times.

I've been foning round 4 quotes on the cost of lessons & in my area i've found its between £17-£22 an hr!!

But the costs are different depending on where u live, like house prices.

Just gotta book sum now!

i took about 25 lessons before i passed, at about 17£ per lesson, but when i did pass it was 1st time. i found it really difficult - i didnt get the hang of the clutch for about 5 lessons, and even then i was pretty shaky. but hey, if i can pass.....

good luck dan_the_man

as they say, its all about attitude.

Cheers to angel babe and dazed_dan for the encouragement! I'll let you all know if i pass or not.
I'm planning to keep the date secret so i will avoid people i know wishing me good luck. It will take abit of the pressure off i hope.

i actually hit a pigeon during a mock test. must have taken its head clean off, coz i was doin about 50mph. stupid bloody animal. felt pretty ill afterwards, coz there was just this ex-pigeon in the road as i looked in my mirror.

even worse, a friend of mine's brother nearly ran in to an old lady during his real test. he had to do an impromptu emergency stop as she stumbled off the pavement towards him. luckily it was at the end of his test, coz it really freaked him out. he still passed though!
