Question Bright charms in London, Portobello/Camden?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to London at the beginning of April and I want to do a bit of shopping. Specifically, I'm looking to buy some little brightly coloured "nic nacks" - small toys, board game pieces, charms, jewellery bits, kitch things - the sorts of things you might get in a cracker or gumball machine. Anyone know of good places to buy such items? I was thinking a market, like Portobello or Camden, but maybe I'm way off with that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd have a look in a few charity shops. The one I go to usually has a basket on the counter with brightly coloured buttons as well as a few ole' Happy Meal toys.

Well apparently that shop is no longer there and became bookshop two years ago.. Hmm.. There is also a shop called Mimi in notting hill, (Turn right out of the station, walk straight along past WH smiths, Mc Donalds, a 2nd hand Cd shop and it'll be along there on the opposite side of the road) that had that kind of stuff. Other than that you could see what else you could find in either camden market, Spitalfields market or down portobello road. Hope i've been of some help..

There's a shop in Covent Garden that sells old fashioned brightly coloured wooden toys and all things playful, it's downstairs in one of the indoor shoppingy bits... (that helps!!) It's where they have the opera singers....

Ooh, thanks for you feedback guys - you have all been a big help I can't wait to get there now!

Rachael - I just like things like this and I figured since London has a shop for everything they might have one for brightly coloured plastic toys!
