anybody booked a last minute holiday?

me+my b.f wana go away somewhere, we dont care where it is as long as its cheap, abroad and hot.
we've been told that if we booked a week off work then went into the travel agents+asked for a holiday to anywhere on the same day, or the next day, we'd get it quite abit cheaper (as if a person's paid their deposit, then dropped out at the last minute, the travel agent ppl still want to make commision)
Anyone done this?
The ppl who told us this went to gibralta last year by doing this, and paid about 1/4 of the price they would have done.
Any thoughts?

me and my bf did an internet holiday auction the week before we went www.mytravel.com

it cost us £200 for both of us, s.c , three star in gran caneria - it was fab.

check out their holidays for a pound section if they still do it, or first bid wins.

Yeah, that's a good deal. Some All Inclusive places are a bit naff, but that's a reasonable price.

I know a couple who book a week off work and then phone the travel companies early on the morning of departure and get really cheap deals. You often get less choice of destination and departure airports (if you live near London that's less of a problem) but you can save a small fortune if you can handle the unpredictability.

Couple of years back I searched round on the internet for a last minute deal. Gt 2 of us away with flights and accommodation for just less than £200 for the week I think it was. That really was last minute though, Booked about 3.30pm on the Saturday flew at 7am Sunday. Went to Corfu btw.

Just decide that I need to stop worrying about the future so much and be more spontaneous. Option of booking today and going tomorrow sounds fab

A few years ago we went to try and book something last minute, it was a Thursday and we were hoping to get something for the Saturday or Sunday. Ended up getting 2 weeks in Corfu for £139, we booked it at 2pm and left the same day at 10.30pm!

I wasnt exactly organised so it was a bit of a nightmare trying to get ready
