Mathematical improbability?

This is more of a philosophical question, but I decided to post it here since it's on the idea of relationships.

So I was thinking about that, and had some thoughts on what could happen to give a chance to a relationship to start. And I realized that I surely have made a "mistake" in my thinking, because if it was true then relationships would be something very rare, which apparently it isn't.

So here's the thinking (example used is me):
People like many people, but not always in a special way. I like a lot of girls at uni, but I just mean I like talking to them and such. Normal levels of liking. So, in order for two people to get in a relationship, one condition would be that they both like each other in a way that is different to the liking I described above.
Me liking a girl in a special way (in few words, having a crush) is a pretty rare thing. Similarly, I don't remember anyone showing any attraction to me since '98. Generally, I don't think it's something that happens every day to people, is that correct?
So we have two conditions actually, which are independent of each other and averagely rare. That means there's a mathematical improbability of both conditions being met at the same time. Based on that, I'd place the chances at lower than 20% probable.

I know it's silly and sad, but I've been thinking about this for long... So where is the fault in this thinking?

Your mistake is that love isn't a mathematical process. It's totally random and unpredictable.

Nice words, and I agree. But what I described (in a way) as a mathematical process isn't love (and actually, I'm not talking about necessarily love). It's the possibiliy of the same two people liking each other.
