Fly Posting

What do you think of all these random posters glued on in different places advertising music and gigs, etc?

I think they lower the tone of places ... one council is trying to take Sony and another company to court over them.

I don't think they influence me i.e. I would never go to a gig that I'd merely seen on a tatty fly poster.

They do look pretty messy too.

fly posting i part of life here. i actually look forward to see whos playing localy/whats going on, when i get off the bus/train in the main station. i think they make the place look alive, like stuff is happening. i've found out about 3 gigs though posters all have been great.

There's a wall near where I live that's always filled with posters of upcoming concerts. I go to that wall regularly, to see if anyone that I like is playing soon. Learning about it from a poster is much cheaper than buying a magazine, so I think it serves a good purpose.

I think theyre all that tatty and usually they're on plywood from construction or something so they won't be there long. Also, if I move out they'll be the best way for me to find out about gigs because I won't be buying the local paper or many music amgazines.

A lot of the ones I see are pasted on to glass from recently closed shops, I'm sure the new owner don't appreiciate the time and expense needed to scrap it off the glass.

Camden cuncil says they spend something like £250,000 a year cleaning up the posters, whilst companies like Sony save £3 Million in advertising on proper boards.
