Post Any Outdoor Freaks out there?

As a follow on to my rather unsucsessfull Volleyball thread- Is there anyone else out there who like outdoor sport?

I am a keen Mountaineer, Kayaker, Mountain biker (well, used to be), Climber, skier, oh, and a bit of sailing goes down nicely - those small racing cats are sooooo sweet.

Used to race cats with my dad when I was younger. We had a 19' Hobie cat and a 5 meter deep hulled ocean racing cat. It was soo much fun! Unless, of course, you tipped one over, then it sucks.

I used to have a topper. Brilliant fun if it's a bit rough.

I'm into scuba diving, hope to become an instructer an go NZ or OZ for a bit to teach it.

I remember with much fondness all the time spent hanging off one of the hulls pulling on the rope to right the things - luckily I am heavy enough to right them

Once when racing on the trapeze with only one hull touching the water, the other vertically above it I managed to screw up a jump over a wave and the cat flipped and tore of the flotation device on the mast... That was a bitch to right.

What kind of a catamaran did you have? (Or do you still have currently) Hobies are very popular in Calif, but really the ocean racing ones would probably be better in England, right? I'm assuming you take them out in the ocean, not a lake.

God I miss it. The two most fun things I had as a teenager, our cat and my dune buggy, are rotting away as we speak at my parents house in NY.

I never had one of my own, I was just using them of the coast of France - Brittany I think. I think they were hobby cats - 2-3 people things altough we went one per cat so you can go faster

I've done a bit of Topper sailing in my time. (Visit my old sailing club at www.prestwicksc.f9.co.uk ) Unfortunately being at University has kept my sailing to a minimum, but one day I may buy my own boat.

As for other outdoor activities, I have been known to go hinking occasionally.
